In this blog, he speaks about how to use Sufi understandings and methodology to help heal depression with what he refers to as the Illuminated Sufi Healing perspective.
From this perspective depression can affect a person at different levels of their being, and needs to be addressed accordingly. If not healed at a deep enough level, it cannot be changed or removed as the person desires, or replaced by what will remove it: hope.
Dr. Jaffe explains that he addresses depression by first assisting the person locate what is causing the depression in the deepest part of their heart. Often, there is an unresolved experience or image they are witnessing that is resulting in feelings of hopelessness or despair.
He helps walk the person through that experience or image, in order to resolve it. This removes the person from the depression and them with hope. Often, the depression itself will go away, as hope is the key to alleviating the feelings around the experience they were holding in their deep heart.
Through the Illuminated Sufi spiritual healing perspective, all wounds are healed by walking within ourselves to the level of the soul, and through the purification of our soul’s qualities at the deepest levels. This, in turn, aligns and embodies our connection with God, from which the highest qualities and transformational gifts are provided for us, always.
Dr. Ibrahim Jaffe is a physician, Sufi Master Healer, and Spiritual Guide who has pioneered Spiritual Healing (SH), where western medicine is combined with spiritual practice to heal disease and improve the health of patients. Dr. Jaffe uses the SH approach to find spiritual, psychological, emotional, and energetic aspects of diseases and come up with ways they can be treated.
